• inform you of news, events, volunteering opportunities, study programmes and services provided by Lam Rim Buddhist Centre, Wales;
• administer our study programmes;
• fundraise and promote the interests of the charity;
• manage our employees, volunteers and residents; and
• maintain our own accounts and records (including the processing of gift aid applications, and registration of guests using our accommodation).

Personal data is processed when carrying out legal obligations. This includes processing in relation to Gift Aid, under employment, social security or social protection law, residency agreements, and registration of guests using our accommodation.

The legitimate interest condition is when we process your personal data for the purpose of complying with your request for:
• enrolment/registration for events;
• booking one of our rooms for venue hire or accommodation; and
• administering your donation (including for the purpose of financial auditing).

We may also contact you to inform you about our products or services similar to those we have provided to you previously.

If you have joined our community mailing list, all correspondence to this list will include instruction on how to opt-out of future mailings.
We do not collect sensitive data about you unless there is a clear reason for doing so.

5. Sharing your personal data
Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be shared internally for the purposes of the running of the Centre and the Centre’s activities.
We will only share your data with third parties outside of Lam Rim Buddhist Centre, Wales by obtaining further consent from you.

6. Our website
Our website allows you to register your personal details for a number of purposes e.g. to sign up to the newsletter and to make a donation.The website does not collect information in the form of cookies.

Our website does contains links to other websites of interest. Once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

7. Retention of personal data
We will keep and delete your information according to our internal policies and will keep it no longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes for which we hold it, taking into account relevant legal and regulatory retention requirements (e.g. tax or health and safety requirements) and operational considerations.

• to request that the Centre provides you with your personal data;
• where there is a dispute in relation to the accuracy or processing of your personal data, to request a restriction is placed on further processing;
• to object to the processing of personal data, (where applicable); and
• to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office.

9. Where is your data stored?
Other information is held on a secure computer controlled by the coordinator.
The community email account is on the 'cloud', which means that sometimes it may be situated in the United States, so your email address may be transferred outside the European Economic Area.
The cloud service adheres to the EU-US and Swiss-US Privacy Shield Frameworks which comply with General Data Protection Requirements.
The website server is situated inside the EU.

10. Further processing
Should we wish to use your personal data for any new purpose, not covered by this Data Protection Notice, then we would seek your consent before so doing.
