Emoyeni Retreat Centre |

The Emoyeni (meaning 'special place') Retreat Centre is in the Magaliesberg
hills near a place called Mooinooi. Only recently purchased, a lot of work is needed to complete the extensive plans for the site. At present, this is the only liveable building on the site so far. |

Geshe-la performed a short blessing ceremony here in the shrine room, which is actually a part of the lounge.

Looking out from the veranda, the public (dirt) road is well beyond the trees at the other end of the long grass. The cottage that is the Centre for the time being is set towards the front of this site. The total extent of the land is 5 km (over 3 miles) from front to back. The width is about one third to one half this size.

Looking towards the front of the site again, the single hill in the distance
from the above picture can be seen. To get to this position, we drove behind
the cottage in the 'bakkie' for about 1 km. Just over the brow of the hill
where we are standing, is the cottage. Mervyn Croft points out some areas for future buildings to Geshe-la. |

Turning round 90 degrees to the right of the above picture is the site for the main meeting hall. The site is located in a small dip. The slope to the right goes to the rear of the property. Here, the grass has been cut (or do they get crop circles here as well?) to show the location and layout of the planned centre. Geshe-la and Mervyn are inspecting the meeting hall site while Pauline and Elizabeth are in the foreground. I was standing on the bakkie taking pictures because I didn't want the ticks to create bad karma by biting me (yeah, right!). The property extends to just over the far trees, but not up the hill in the distance.

Turning another 90 degrees to the right, we look
to the rear of the property. This is quite extensive. It stretches to the
crest of the hill on the skyline, where there is a near shear drop to a
small river.
There is great scope for development here - and plenty of work to do. There are already regular retreats in the cottage so people are becoming familiar with the place. For further information, go to http://www.emoyeni-retreat.com. |
